Roman Lead tank from Icklingham (1971). The front bears the letters XP - one of the most popular Christian symbols in antiquity. As CHI RHO is a combination of the two Greek letters chi X and rho P which forms a monogram of the name of Jesus Christ. The tank was probably used for religious purposes such as; ritual cleaning, rather than use as a font c. 3rd century AD. (Ipswich Museum)
