West Stow; is the reconstructed site of a former Anglo-Saxon settlement, the buildings which you see today were constructed in 1972 by re-using the post-holes from the original site buildings. This early Anglo-Saxon village was occupied from AD 450-650, and excavations over a number of years has revealed evidence that at least 70 buildings once stood here, and the archaeological findings seem to indicate that the residents of this large village had established a thriving community and economy.
